First I will talk a bit of my experiences and how I went from nobody to a powerseller in 2 months.
When I first started out selling items on eBay, I didn’t have a clue. I wasn’t getting any bids and it was a little frustrating to spend so much money on listing fees. With sheer luck I managed to find items that sold well. Basically what I did was to look around on eBay to find out what’s hot. I knew if I had a product that was selling well, I would at least manage to sell a few items per day.
I was right. I went out and checked http://pulse.ebay.com daily and bought up the cheapest hot items.
At that time the iPhone was brand new. So I bought the cheapest iPhone’s and then sold them on international eBay sites (such as. ebay.de and ebay.co.uk).
I managed to make a few sales per day and finally made some good profits, but it still wasn’t enough to make a living off eBay alone. I was reading through many guides and tutorials to find out what other people do.
I remember that I bought this guide for $65. That’s when I started to make some real money. What I did was to write down the best strategies of that guide. Then I modified them a little bit so they would work for me. I knew that copying someone’s eBay strategy is not going to work in 9/10 cases .. I copied too many ideas to know that for sure!
Anyway it all comes down to:
- Buying cheap, selling high
- Buying/selling products that are needed (keep in mind that the buying behaviour of people will change if the economy struggles, e.g. if we are in a recession)
- Buying in large quantities to get a good discount
- Find niches with less competition
- Having a USP (Unique selling proposition), what makes you stand out?
- Selling large quantities to save listing fees
- Good wholesale sources
- Getting bids (there are some methods that will help you get 50% more bids)
